ARA is Austria’s leading packaging compliance scheme and a non-profit company. Our compliance and consultancy services in many fields of circular economy are backed by 25 years of experience in the industry. We use the revenues from compliance fees to organise and finance the collection and recovery of packaging waste from private households and commercial entreprises in Austria. ARA AG is owned by packaging manufacturers, manufacturers and businesses as well as retailers.

Market leader of the compliance system in France, Citeo is a not-for-profit company founded from the merger of Eco-Emballages and Ecofolio with a view to create a more sustainable world by reducing the environmental impact of packaging and paper. 250 committed, passionate Citeo employees work to help companies design and reduce packaging and find innovative recycling solutions, by advising them on their environmental responsibility, optimizing low-cost sorting and recycling procedures and motivating the public to adopt user-friendly effective sorting.

Der Grüne Punkt – Duales System Deutschland GmbH (DSD) is one of the leading packaging compliance schemes in Germany, and was founded in 1990. It coordinates the collection, sorting and recycling of household packaging all over Germany, on the basis of the German Packaging Ordinance (VerpackV). As a full-control system, it is financed by industry contributions, and has prevailed in a highly competitive field. In part this is due also to the development and marketing of innovative services and plastic recyclates. The companies of Der Grüne Punkt are active as service providers for extended producer responsibility, as a leading supplier of secondary raw materials for plastics, and as a premium producer of plastic recyclates. This makes us the premier solution provider for the needs of the closed-cycle economy. Systec Plastics, at its facilities in Eisfeld and Hörstel, produces premium-quality recyclates under the Systalen brandname for the international market. The companies are grouped together in DSD – Duales System Holding GmbH & Co. KG.

Repak Limited is Ireland’s Extended Producer Responsibility sole compliance scheme. Repak is a not for profit organisation founded in 1997 and has over 2,300 member companies, these include all major producers, retailers, restaurants, hotels, and many other businesses who produce packaging. These companies are committed to meeting their obligations to recycle their packaging and help pay for the collection, sorting and recycling of packaging. Repak members have helped fund the recycling of over 11 million tonnes of packaging waste in Ireland since 1997.

Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku Opakowań S.A. was founded in 2002 as non-profit organisation and is the market leader among packaging recovery organisations in Poland. It is also the only packaging recovery organisation set up by companies that introduce packaged goods on the Polish market. It operates with full transparency and accountability, on the legal basis of Act on Management of Packaging and Packaging Waste. Rekopol is developing a system of selective collection of packaging waste which ensures the fulfilment of obligations imposed on packers / fillers and importers, at the same time being economically efficient and environmentally effective. Its overall purpose is to reduce and eventually eliminate landfill completely in Europe. Rekopol offers the following services: Takeover of the Recovery and Recycling Obligation, Takeover of Obligation to Conduct Public Educational Campaigns, Licensing for the „Green Dot” trademark, Domestic and International Advisory Services.

Functioning as a non-profit organisation SPV fully allocates its annual overall income to cover the additional costs of municipalities in regard to multi-material collection and sorting, promotion of communication and environmental education as well as research & development projects.
